Arsenal star who has played 21 games this term could leave in summer as fresh update emerges -…

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey could leave the club at the end of the season as the club are in the market to sign a new central midfielder and have begun identifying targets, according to the Daily Mail.

The 31-year-old Gunners star is out of contract at the end of the season and there has been no significant progress made on a new deal.

Partey has played 21 games across all competitions for Arsenal this term having managed to keep himself fit since the campaign started, but there is no major urgency at the North London club to nail down his future.

The Ghana international made only 16 appearances last term but featured in 40 games in 2022-23 after playing 26 times in 2021-22.

Partey has featured in midfield and right-back this term, and manager Mikel Arteta has been able to rely on him so far amid the spate of injuries in his squad.

The versatile Arsenal star joined them for £45 million from Atletico Madrid in 2020, playing 33 games at the end of his debut campaign.

While his future is uncertain and he can sign a pre-contract with overseas clubs from January 1, both parties could strike a new deal in the coming weeks.

Partey has proven he has what it takes to remain a key and important player for Arsenal, and handing him a new two-year deal could make sense.

He earns £200,000 per week and could be keen on an improved deal after seeing the likes of Gabriel Jesus earn much more.

Jorginho’s deal is also due to expire in July, and the Gunners may not be ready to lose two of their most experienced midfielders anytime soon.

It will be up to Arteta and the next sporting director to decide what is best for the club concerning the future of Partey and the Italian, and fans will be hoping they get it right.
