Julen Lopetegui isn’t out of the woods at West Ham as the board remain unhappy with performances and results.

The Spaniard came in and was met with a mixed reception at the London Stadium and reviews have only continued to be negative in his opening 17 games in charge.

A win last time out against Wolves saved the head coach’s job in East London but it doesn’t appear that his future will be safe if results and performances don’t improve.

Julen Lopetegui still under pressure at West Ham

West Ham Football reported to X on 10 December that the ex-Real Madrid boss is safe in his job for now but needs the team to be better for the long term.

This means that the sack debate is going to rumble on at the London Stadium in the coming weeks which may prove to be disruptive but is seen as the best option by the hierarchy.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Lopetegui has plenty of quality to work with in his squad at the moment after a positive transfer window where some big names came in.

So far the Spaniard hasn’t been able to get the best out of new signings like Jean-Clair Todibo, Luis Guilherme and Niclas Fullkrug.

In the coming weeks, the manager has to utilise his squad and find a way of playing that garners results while also entertaining the Irons fans.

This certainly hasn’t been the case in recent weeks which is where the majority of supporters have taken issue with him as David Moyes’ replacement.

Looking forward to clashes against Bournemouth and Brighton, Lopetegui needs to steady the ship and steer it in a positive direction in order to save his job.

In other West Ham news, the January transfer plan is surely going to be binned after news that has emerged.
