Bayern Munich find themselves in a precarious position with Alphonso Davies as the January transfer window approaches – a situation Liverpool know themselves all too well.

The 24-year-old Canadian star enters the final six months of his contract, allowing him to negotiate with foreign clubs from January 1st.

Recent developments have been contradictory, with Sky Germany reporting “significant progress” in contract talks, while Bild reveals Davies’ agent is “furious” with Bayern’s negotiation approach.

The player has reportedly made salary concessions, though key financial details remain unresolved.

The Reds are seeking long-term solutions at left-back, with Andy Robertson now 30 years of age and more susceptible to injury judging from last season.

One of the primary targets appears to be Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, with the Hungarian international commanding a £40 million valuation.

But it seems that Davies is somewhere in the peripheral at the very least.

What is the latest on Liverpool and Alphonso Davies?

The Athletic has released a piece assessing where Alphonso Davies could end up.

And although the Reds are mentioned, it’s suggested that ‘senior Liverpool’ sources have shot down any suggestions that the club is in for the Canadian international.

Mario Cortegana writes:

“Multiple industry sources have told The Athletic that Liverpool have expressed an interest in signing the player and that they would be the most plausible Premier League destination for him.”

“However, a move to Anfield is considered an unlikely outcome at present and senior Liverpool sources have strongly denied any interest in a deal.”

The report also discloses the contract offer Davies declined from Bayern, suggesting that his demands will not be easily satisfied at Anfield:

“In mid-March, they gave him a two-week ultimatum to respond to their offer of around €13million per year ($13.7m; £10.8m at current exchange rates) until 2029, a package which the player eventually rejected.”

It would be very difficult to see Liverpool match or get near to those terms, especially if the likes of Real Madrid get involved as they are expected to.
