It’s been a difficult couple of years for Chelsea supporters watching the club go through so much change, both on and off the pitch, but this season the team is giving them plenty of reasons to be cheerful.
Chelsea sit second in the Premier League table right now as we approach mid-December. Remarkably, sections of the media are now talking about them as title challengers to leaders Liverpool.
The incredible impact of Enzo Maresca during his first season as the Blues manager has exceeded most people’s expectations.
One Chelsea source is shocked by Maresca’s attention to detail because he studies his own and opposition players so much. Whatever he’s doing, he just needs to keep doing it.

Darren Bent showers Chelsea squad with huge praise
According to talkSPORT pundit Darren Bent, the Chelsea squad is as good as anybody else across the entire Premier League.
The Blues owners, along with the recruiters, have received major stick for how they’ve assembled the squad in previous transfer windows. Finally, it feels like everyone is seeing their vision in putting together this super young group.
“I think you’ve got to take this Chelsea team seriously. There’s people, myself included, who always thought they’d finish inside the top four. I said that when we did our predictions at the start of the season,” Bent told talkSPORT.
“I thought the consistency would be the problem and the issue with them winning the league this year. But when are you ever ready? They’ve got the squad, which is as good as anyones. They haven’t really got to worry about injuries too much because they’ve got so many players for every position…

“I genuinely think Chelsea are there. Regardless of if they (Liverpool) keep looking at Manchester City and Arsenal, I think you’ve got to pay Chelsea and give them the respect they deserve because they are on the cusp.”
The strength in depth at Chelsea right now is clear to see when you see their heavy rotation between league and cup competitions this season. In fairness, Maresca deserves big credit for making the most of his squad.
Chelsea have kept their players motivated by telling them there’s plenty of games to spread the minutes around, which is something they’ve stuck to in the first half of the campaign.
Chelsea have unbelievable depth in attack
A major strength for the Blues right now is the amount of top-class attackers on their books. They’re all pushing each other and keeping the standards extremely high, too.
Here is a look at some of the Chelsea forwards and their contributions this season:
Player Appearances Goals Assists
Pedro Neto 17 3 3
Noni Madueke 17 6 2
Cole Palmer 17 11 6
Joao Felix 15 5 2
Jadon Sancho 10 2 5
Mykhailo Mudryk 15 3 5
Nicolas Jackson 15 8 3
Christopher Nkunku 22 12 2

Chelsea are on track to beat their attacking club record for the most goals in a single season, which is no surprise when they see what’s available to them. Can they keep it up over the course of an entire campaign, though?
