This is not the first time Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Marcus Rashford.
Reports of Manchester United being open to offers for Marcus Rashford have hogged the headlines this week and potentially caught the eye of chiefs at St James’ Park.
Newcastle United are in the market for attacking reinforcements and a right winger is a top priority for 2025 with Miguel Almiron likely to leave in the upcoming January transfer window.
A new striker could also be on the cards but Callum Wilson’s latest injury blow has complicated matters as he is another Newcastle ace who was tipped to leave next month.
A deal for Rashford would be a statement signing for Newcastle and one that many fans would have deemed impossible financially, but his asking price has now been staggeringly slashed.

Eddie Howe favourite Marcus Rashford now available for £40m
Rewind to 2022 and Newcastle were linked with Rashford after he grew frustrated at his lack of playing time at Old Trafford.
Since then, he signed a new deal with the Red Devils but his form has continued to be inconsistent and the England international still does not appear to be enjoying his football.
The new ownership at Manchester United also appear to be struggling under the Profit and Sustainability Rules and are looking to raise funds – it seems Rashford is one of many who are now up for sale.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United would consider offers of £40m for Rashford despite him previously being valued at up to £100m.
Eddie Howe is a big admirer of Rashford with the Newcastle boss hailing him as a “world-class” player back in 2023.
What are Newcastle’s chances of signing Marcus Rashford?
In the months after the PIF takeover, Newcastle were linked with several marquee signings with Kylian Mbappe’s name even floated about.
However, it has since become clear that PSR regulations will simply not allow Newcastle to spend so lavishly.
Newcastle will have to sell to buy in January, and there is more likelihood of no new signings coming through the door than a big-money mega-star.

Even if a £40m fee is affordable for Newcastle, luring Rashford to St James’ Park would require a huge wage package – one that would easily make him the highest earner at the club.
Ultimately Newcastle’s chances of landing Rashford are very minimal.
