The Chicago Bears' head coaching vacancy continues to be leading topic of conversation for most national pundits.
The latest was a report from Dan McNeil, suggesting that the Bears' current list of candidates includes Mike Vrabel, Brian Flores, Joe Brady, and Ben Johnson.
The debate that seems to be at the center of the Bears' search for their next head coach is if the team should go with an offensive-minded head coach to prioritize the development of Caleb Williams or look for a "leader of men" type that can get the culture back on track following the downfall of the Matt Eberflus era.
It's a debate that has already had many outlandish takes, but the latest from Colin Cowherd may take the crown. While speaking on the candidates that the Bears should be targeting, Cowherd opines that the mess that has become the Bears' organization may be too much for a first-time head coach to handle.
Along those lines, Cowherd believes that if Johnson or Brady were to take the job, there may be "too many potholes" that would prevent them from having success in their first opportunity as a head coach in the NFL. Given that idea, Cowherd is emphatic that Vrabel should be the choice for the Bears. If not Vrabel, Cowherd believes Flores would be the best fallback option.
Cowherd is never short of hot takes.
"There are too many potholes and obstacles for Joe Brady or Ben Johnson. This is not the job. It's too big."

Overall, the Bears shouldn't be prioritizing an experienced head coach nor should they be prioritizing an offensive-minded head coach. The Bears need to be looking for the right coach, regardless of their background.
In recent head coaching hires, it seems that the Bears have backed themselves into a corner when making the hire. The Bears have always looked for the over-correction and it's a strategy that hasn't worked.
The Bears' job isn't the black hole Cowherd makes it out to be. There are questions, specifically about the dynamic between Ryan Poles and Kevin Warren, but that shouldn't be the reason a candidate with no head coaching experience stays away from the position.
