Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim could be given a transfer opportunity in the January window.
Manchester United could be in for a busy January transfer window, with the club reportedly open to selling ‘over half’ of their squad as they look to back new head coach Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese manager has had just over a month to assess his squad as plans are put into place for the January window. There have already been several players linked with a move to Old Trafford, as well as several being linked with an exit from the club.
According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, United have agreed internally that ‘over half’ of the current players in the squad are ‘serious candidates’ to be sold in the window if United get offers they deem acceptable.

It is said that the sales will then allow Amorim an ‘opportunity’ to rebuild the squad with incomings. There are however players that are considered unsellable including Amad, Kobbie Mainoo, Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs De Ligt, Leny Yoro and Andre Onana.
One player who has been linked with a move away is Marcus Rashford. The forward has struggled to find his best form over the last couple of seasons.
After starting, and scoring in Amorim’s first two Premier League games in charge, the 27-year-old has had to settle for making an appearance off the bench in the defeats against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest. It was reported earlier this year that United would be open to offers for Rashford in the January transfer window.
Rashford's sale would represent a financial boost to United, in terms of the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability Rules (PSRs). As an academy graduate any money made on him will be considered as pure profit on the accounts.
It is however said that clubs could struggle to match his current salary at Old Trafford. Clubs in Saudi Arabia and French giants Paris Saint Germain have been described as potential destinations.
