'I entered the room': Jadon Sancho shares how he honestly felt after his 'first talk' with Enzo Maresca

Since his loan move to Chelsea from Manchester United, Jadon Sancho is redeeming himself game after game.

In June last year, Ally McCoist criticised Sancho as he felt that he had “shown enough at all” in a United shirt.

But it seems like the Englishman feels right at home at Chelsea.

The numbers prove how much Sancho is seemingly enjoying his football at Stamford Bridge.

In Chelsea’s latest 4-3 win against Tottenham Hotspur as well, the former Borussia Dortmund winger was arguably the best player on the pitch, scoring a delightful equaliser that headlined a terrific all-round display. Recently, Mike Phelan compared Sancho to Eden Hazard in terms of his natural talent as well.

Sancho has now lifted the lid on how he was instantly left with a positive first impression of Enzo Maresca after his move to Chelsea.

Jadon Sancho reveals “good feeling” Enzo Maresca gave him during “first talk”

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 24-year-old said: “Especially when I first came here [Chelsea], my first talk with him, I got a good feeling, a good impression, so I wanted to play under him.”

Sancho elaborated on his feelings, saying: “It was just a good feeling, when I entered the room, I just felt his aura, his presence and I feel as a manager, you need to feel that when you’re in the training ground, especially when he’s talking to you because he’s played the game as well so he has a lot of experience and he could teach all the guys something, so it was good.”

The fleet-footed technician’s time at Manchester United was summed up during the FA Community Shield when he missed a spot-kick in the penalty shootout in Manchester City’s narrow victory.

But so far, all the signs indicate that Sancho is once again looking like the player who first took the world by storm at Borussia Dortmund.

There is plenty of competition for a starting place in Maresca’s side, with the likes of Pedro Neto and Mykhailo Mudryk also well-capable of playing on the left-wing.

However, it seems like Sancho has been up for the challenge from day one.

Sancho says “every player is buying into” Chelsea boss Maresca demands

The Camberwell-born trickster also stated that his Chelsea teammates are buying into Enzo Maresca’s philosophy and demands.

“He’s a very good coach. He understands players but he’s very hard on you if you don’t do the right stuff. But I think every player’s buying into how he works and just eager to learn.”

Fabrizio Romano reported Enzo Maresca’s reputation at Chelsea in October, claiming that he was having a “very good impact” on the players from a tactical point of view.

Romano also revealed that the Blues cohort appreciated Maresca’s clear and direct approach.

Sancho will be hoping that his union with Enzo Maresca continues to be a fruitful one this season.
