Despite the current Blaugrana coach Hansi Flick calling De Jong an important part of his setup, the Dutchman has hardly featured under him this season, having played just 343 minutes of football spread across 12 appearances across all competitions.
The 27-year-old missed a total of 47 games last season for club and country due to injuries. Valued by Transfermarkt at €60 million, his current Barça contract, fetching him €25.2 million per year, is set to run until June 2026.

Gravenberch is 22 in on his way to have a memorable season at Liverpool. He is both of the right age and of a profile Real Madrid would be keen in, especially given their recent inclination towards letting Aurélien Tchouaméni leave, with the Frenchman also linked with a move to Anfield. And, there will come a time inevitably when they bid Luka Modrić farewell.
De Jong, despite his injuries, remains one of the best deep-lying midfielders and a prolific ball carrier Liverpool and many other clubs would love having in their setup. For a while we have known it’s a matter of time before the Dutchman is forced out of Camp Nou, and it’s hard to make an argument against Anfield being his next home.
