Chelsea told to sign Everton star who can solve all problems

Chelsea have been told by one of their legends to sign Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite. The 22 year old defender was top target for Man United who did all in their powers to sign him this summer.

Man United were very heavily linked with Branthwaite this summer. They even submitted a £50 million bid to sign the Everton star. But, the Toffees rejected the bid and asked for £80 million instead.

Chelsea have been very good this season under Enzo Maresca. The Italian has helped them to secure 2nd place in Premier League which no one really expected. In addition, they are on top of Conference League table and favourites to win the competition.

But, on major setback for Chelsea has been their defence this season. The Blues have been highly tested in back this season and have not been able to keep clean sheets. They are keen to improve that and make some important signings next year.

Chelsea told to sign Jarrad Branthwaite

Chelsea legend Pat Nevin highlighted the current situation at West London. He said that the Blues can’t win the league unless they improve their defence. He backed his club to sign the United target which will cost them a hefty fee.

“The central defensive partnership, whoever they use, isn’t close to the level that Arsenal and Liverpool have and you could say the same about the goalkeeper. I just wonder if Jarrad Branthwaite could prised from my beloved Everton, would this be close to the final piece of the jigsaw?” – Nevin speaking to BBC Sport.

Branthwaite has established himself as one of the best young defenders in Europe. He has been regular starter for Everton and made 41 appearances for them last season across all competitions. He has already made the debut for England national team and surely has a very bright future ahead of him regardless of which club he joins.
