Mikel Merino has lauded his Arsenal teammate Myles Lewis-Skelly and is glad the teenager isn’t afraid to ask ‘stupid questions’ in training.
Lewis-Skelly, 18, was handed a rare start and played 64 minutes as the Gunners defeated Monaco 3-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.
It marked his biggest moment at the club to date after making his senior debut off the bench against Manchester City in September.
Lewis-Skelly, who can play in midfield or at left-back, has now played in seven first-team games since coming through the Hale End academy.
Arsenal star Merino is a massive fan of the England U19 international as the Spaniard told reporters: ‘[Myles Lewis-Skelly is] an amazing guy.
‘He’s a really good kid, always humble, just trying to learn from the others, asking questions, not being worried of being judged for asking maybe a stupid question or whatever.
‘But he’s always just trying to learn with a positive attitude and he also has that technical and physical level that will bring a lot of joy to the people who watch him play.’

Merino, who joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad in a deal worth £31.6m in August, added: ‘Myles, with his full debut, did an amazing job.
‘You could see the composure, you could see the quality he has. Also, the whole squad helping him is what we’re talking about.
‘When you have so much quality in every single player, when you’re training every single day with us, you get better.
‘I’m really happy for him and for every player who is just in the squad and doing his best.’
Meanwhile, Ismeal Kabia could be set to become the latest Arsenal wonderkid to break into the first-team under manager Mikel Arteta.
Kabia massively impressed in Arsenal U19s’ win over Monaco this week, conjuring up two assists in ‘one of his best performances’ to date.
