Leicester City have turned a corner under new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy but the Dutchman will be wishing he had winger Abdul Fatawu available.
Fatawu was incredible while on loan at Leicester City last term as his six goals and 13 assists helped propel Enzo Maresca’s side to the Championship title.
The 20-year-old then made his move to the King Power permanent in the summer before continuing his impressive performances in the Premier League.
A constant menace on the right flank with his electric pace and close control, Leicester fans were blown away by Fatawu against Southampton and in other games this season.
However, when the Ghanian suffered an ACL injury before the loss to Chelsea last month, the club’s worst fears materialised.
Fatawu is now sidelined for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign, dealing the youngster and Leicester a cruel blow.
That being said, some promising footage of the winger has emerged ahead of Leicester’s trip to Newcastle United on Saturday.

In the professional football scene, Fatawu is in good hands, as the club will ensure his recovery is a smooth and steady process.

For many footballers, being out injured for a long period can feel very lonely, especially when they’re in a treatment room while their teammates are on the training pitch.
Luckily, the start of Fatawu’s recovery is going well and on Thursday, he was spotted back at Seagrave and in the gym with full-back Ricardo Pereira.
Pereira posted footage of the Ghanian on Instagram after he’d just come out of an ice chamber, captioning it: “Feeling after the chamber,” accompanied by three emojis.
The Portuguese full-back is another long-term absentee for Leicester after he sustained a hamstring injury in the loss to Man United in November, keeping him out till March.
Leicester City injury update ahead of Newcastle
The footage of Fatawu in the gym will bring a smile to the faces of Leicester fans and will perhaps offer hope that the winger can return earlier than planned.
It wasn’t all positive news on Thursday, though, as van Nistelrooy confirmed Wilfred Ndidi will be out for a couple of weeks.
Further, the Dutchman also revealed that Harry Winks is a doubt for this weekend’s match as he awaits a return from the injury he sustained against Chelsea.
This means van Nistelrooy could hand Henry Cartwright his Leicester City debut at St James Park, although the likely replacement for Ndidi is £20 million signing Oliver Skipp.
