Should Arsenal be looking to sell Leandro Trossard next summer?

There is one player who will likely be on the chopping board when the January transfer window reopens, and that name is versatile attacker Leandro Trossard.

The 30-year-old has had a quiet campaign after suffering from a rough form in recent games. Although he was attracting a lot of attention in the initial Premier League games, the Belgian looks lost at this point.

Trossard was once linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, with the Middle Eastern teams ready to splash £40 million for the Gooner. However, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta rejected the offer since the former Brighton ace was seen as a cog in the team’s initiatives.

Trossard is well known as a powerful substitute player, displaying game-changing potential. But he has lost his impact this term. We might see goals from him in the latter part of this season, but he still needs to keep pushing.

Arsenal have built a team where every player fights for himself, and they need to be on their toes if they want to fix their spot in the team. The more time it takes for Trossard to improve, the faster he loses his starting XI berth.

Some might say that he is struggling due to a change in his position. He was used as a false nine or as an attacking midfielder, instead of in his favourite left wing role. But wasn’t he supposed to be a top-notch, versatile player who is flexible enough to play in most of the attacking positions?

Some fans might also argue that the Belgian deserves time, and he might prove us wrong as the months pass by. Still, Arsenal should consider an offer if it comes from a foreign club, especially the cash-rich Saudi league. Investing in younger alternatives will help them to upgrade their squad.

As per rumours, they have been linked with a move for West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus as the veteran star’s replacement. Trossard’s contract expires in 2026, and the North London outfit has shown interest in extending his stay. They will prefer keeping the versatile player except if any attractive proposal comes to their table.

The support from the club and the competition from his younger peers might push Trossard to improve his current status at the Emirates Stadium. Only time will tell whether any other candidate takes his spot on the team.
