Newcastle United midfielder has contract extended but could leave in January window – Report

News

An interesting update on this Newcastle United midfielder.

The Mail reporting that their information is that a contract extension has been triggered for Sean Longstaff.

The Newcastle United midfielder now seeing his existing deal extended until 30 June 2026, rather than 30 June 2025.

However, [The Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-14186335/NEWCASTLE-CONFIDENTIAL-Key-injury-boost-Sandro-Tonali.html) exclusive adds that Sean Longstaff is also one of the players Newcastle United are willing to sell in January.

Not something which is a great surprise, as I am sure that pretty much any player who isn’t seen as a sure starter if everybody is fit, would be sold if the right offer came in. With the exception of maybe only one or two (not certain starters), plus young players such as Lewis Miley.

As a homegrown player of course, Sean Longstaff has special enhanced PSR benefit if sold for a decent amount.

The year’s extension on Longstaff’s contract obviously gives the club some breathing space if no acceptable offer did come in for the Newcastle United midfielder.
