Bayern Munich chief Max Eberl has dismissed claims that his club are currently chasing the transfer of Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk - but has revealed his admiration for the Ukraine star.
Mudryk has been linked with a possible January exit having started just one Premier League game all season. In fact, the 23-year-old has played just 146 minutes in the competition, with Enzo Maresca using him in his rotation team fielded in Chelsea's cup competitions.
Mudryk has recorded three goals and three assists in four Europa Conference League matches and played the entirety of the club's two League Cup outings. Yet, he has not completed a full 90 minutes in the league, under Maresca, and that had flagged him up as a potentially saleable asset.
However, despite his status in the Chelsea pecking order, Mudryk's agent distanced himself from whispers linking his client with a move away. "Of course, players like Misha will always attract the attention of other clubs and their scouts," representative Vadim Shabliy said last week.
"But at the moment he has a contract with Chelsea, and all his thoughts are about how to secure his place in the starting XI."
And Bayern sporting director Eberl has now poured cold water over speculation linking the German giants with a possible move, as things stand. Speaking to BILD about Mudryk, Eberl said: "He's an outstanding player.
"He has a contract at Chelsea until 2031 and he costs a lot of money. Of course, we are monitoring the market and, of course, Mudryk is an outstanding player. But at the moment it's just a rumour.”
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany was also quizzed about the transfer links with Mudryk following Bayern's 5-1 Champions League win over Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk.
"To be honest, I haven't looked into this topic [January deals for Ukraine internationals] at all," he admitted.
"I know some wonderful Ukrainian footballers and you just mentioned Mudryk - but we will discuss these matters in January and so we will talk about it in 3-4 weeks."
