Alex Crook has revealed that Dan Friedkin could replace Kevin Thelwell with Dan Ashworth at Everton after his Manchester United departure.
The 53-year-old departed his role as Sporting Director at Old Trafford after just five months and now could be in line to make a move to Goodison Park.
Current Director of Football Thelwell is out of contract in the summer and prospective new Toffees owner could look to make a change after what Crook said live on talkSPORT on 12 November.
He said: “Dan Ashworth, obviously a bombshell announcement at the weekend of his departure from Manchester United, his reputation remains high based on what he did at Newcastle, Brighton, West Brom and The FA before that.
“Everton have a sporting director at the moment, in the form of Kevin Thelwell but he’s out of contract at the end of the season and I think Friedkin will want to make some changes. I’m not sure he’ll come in straight away and make sweeping changes, they are going to conduct a performance review but I think Thelwell is probably likely to depart.

“Dan Ashworth is someone that the Roma owner respects and is certainly going to be part of the conversation. I think it would be a good appointment. He’s not really a recruitment expert but what he is, is someone who comes to a football club and brings structure, sets standards, improves the culture.
“Maybe that is what Everton need before moving into their new stadium.”

Friedkin appears to be hopeful of pushing through his takeover on Merseyside before the end of December which can only be a benefit for the Toffees.
It appears that the US businessman will be keen to make some changes after becoming owner whether that be in the dugout or the boardroom.
Sean Dyche looks to be under pressure as his contract heads towards its expiry at the end of the season.
Thelwell appears to be on the chopping block and there is no doubt that Ashworth will be a well-received change by the Goodison faithful.

The ex-FA director is highly regarded from his spells with Brighton and Newcastle United and could thrive if given the opportunity with the Toffees.
Friedkin may be able to offer a transfer kitty for the potential new executive to spend alongside a new manager ahead of a move to the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium in the summer.
