West Ham United believe they are in pole position for Sergio Conceicao, with Everton also in the race for the former FC Porto boss.
According to Team Talk, Sergio Conceicao is emerging as a primary target for the West Ham United managerial job. The 50-year-old Portuguese manager, formerly of FC Porto, reports he prefers taking over at the London club despite growing interest from elsewhere, as Everton is keen to bring him on board.
West Ham United are likely to make a big decision about their managerial situation, as a few more bad results could see Julen Lopetegui dismissed. The Spaniard might have found a way to continue in his role for the time being following a victory over Wolves last Monday, although he remains under pressure with his role at the London Stadium.
Graham Potter had been tipped to take over at West Ham, and the Englishman remains a firm choice for the club in the coming period. Other names are mentioned, including Sergio Conceicao, as the 50-year-old Portuguese manager is now emerging as a prime contender to replace Lopetegui.
Sergio Conceicao, formerly at FC Porto, left his role at the Estadio do Dragao in the summer and remains on the market for a new role. A move to the Premier League will undoubtedly appeal to the 50-year-old Portuguese manager, as West Ham and Everton are in the mix.
According to the report, Conceicao prefers a switch to the London Stadium, and the English Capital might appeal to him more than his other suitors, like Everton or even Wolves, who are keen to appoint him. The latter are also going through a difficult period with their form under Gary O’Neil, as Conceicao will have plenty of offers to contemplate in the coming period.
West Ham to beat Everton for Conceicao?
While it may only be media speculation, the Hammers are looking at some ambitious names like Sergio Conceicao and Graham Potter. Some might come to prefer the Englishman and former Chelsea boss as the right choice. But the 50-year-old Portuguese manager also has his merits to take over if the club decides to do so.
The Hammers have all the ingredients to beat Everton in this race for Conceicao. Should the team falter in the next few games, the Toffees are likely to consider a change in the dugout. However, West Ham’s appeal might see Conceicao join them unless the Hammers have other ideas.
