Chelsea midfielder set for January loan move

Chelsea reached the knockout stages of the Europa Conference League with a 3-1 victory over Kazakhstani side Astana on Thursday afternoon.

A brace from Marc Guiu and goal from Renato Veiga put the Blues in a commanding position in Almaty, where temperatures were as low as -10c.

Astana pulled one back just before half-time, but a goalless second period meant Enzo Maresca’s side remain top of the group phase table and qualified for the last 16 of the competition.

Maresca made a number of changes to his side for the long-trip to Kazakhstan, with several young players involved in the match.

Next up for Chelsea is a West London derby against Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.

The Blues will hope to maintain the pressure on Premier League leaders Liverpool by beating the Bees, but in the meantime it has emerged that one of the club’s younger players could be leaving on loan next month.

As per GiveMeSport, midfielder Omari Kellyman could be set for a loan move when the transfer window reopens next month.

Kellyman is yet to play for Chelsea since his move from Aston Villa

The 19-year-old joined Chelsea from Premier League rivals Aston Villa earlier this summer, for a fee of around £19 million.

He hasn’t played for the club since, though, after suffering a serious knee injury shortly after arriving at Stamford Bridge.

The report claims that the teenager has attracted interest from clubs in the Championship, and those in charge of Chelsea are now considering the potential options for the young midfielder.

It is also claimed that the player’s preference would be to remain in England, making a loan to the second tier the most likely solution as he searches for more regular game time.

Kellyman’s current contract with the Blues is set to run until the end of the 2029/30 campaign.
