City are going through an unusually poor spell of form right now.

Manchester City are planning a rebuild ahead of the January transfer window, with several high-profile names being named as potential targets.

For their exceedingly high standards, it has been an awful start to the 2024/25 campaign for City, who are going through an uncharacteristic run of form.

Pep Guardiola's side fell to their seventh defeat in 10 games on Wednesday night as they were beaten 2-0 by Juventus in the Champions League.

As a result of their rapid fall off, City have been linked with numerous players ahead of the January window.

In fact, the Telegraph claim there could be between four and six signings over the next two windows with the defence, midfield and attack all requiring 'surgery'.

The report suggests midfield is the biggest area of concern as they continue to struggle without Rodri, who will miss the rest of the season following surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament.

A number of midfielders are named including Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi, although the Spaniard could wait until the summer as he has 'reservations' over being the understudy to Rodri once he returns.

Atalanta’s Ederson has also been discussed alongside Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton and Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes.

As well as a central midfielder, several No 10's are mentioned in the piece. City are admirers of Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz, who will likely be one of the most sought after players next year.

Eberechi Eze and Matheus Cunha have also been scouted by the Citizens.

Perhaps one of the more surprising names mentioned is former academy player Liam Delap following his superb start to life with Ipswich Town.

The report claims it will be 'interesting' to see if City make a move for the England youth international, who made two Premier League appearances for the club before leaving on a permanent deal in July.

Finally, three defenders are mentioned as possible targets.

Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite is 'thought to be on City’s radar' while Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi is also named alongside Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies.
