Arsenal fans have been mocked online after a mural of set-piece coach Nicolas Jover emerged outside the Emirates

Arsenal fans have been trolled after a mural of their set-piece coach Nicolas Jover appeared outside the Emirates.

Jover is a popular figure among supporters at present after helping Arsenal enjoy an incredible run of goals from set-pieces - after scoring twice from corners in a 2-0 win over Manchester United this month.

Arsenal have now scored 22 goals from corners since the start of last season after Jover began working his magic on the squad. He was poached from Arteta's old club Manchester City in 2021 and it's clear he's had a huge impact as the Gunners bid for the title.

Supporters have been so impressed with Jover's work that they've immortalised him with a mural of the German-born coach close to their home ground.

The artwork depicts Jover smiling while wearing an Arsenal training jacket against a black backdrop - ironically painted on the corner of a brick wall.

But rival fans have poked fan at the Arsenal fans responsible for the mural of Jover, with some calling it "cringey" while others questioned why he was being celebrated at such an early point before the club had won any major silverware.

One fan teased Arsenal fans as he wrote: "Well they can't make murals of lifting trophies so I guess the set piece coach is the next best thing?"

Supporters goaded Arsenal and called the artwork "cringey"

Another said: "Funny that, considering they've won nothing. Now they're putting murals for coaching corners?" A third called it "embarrassing" and one added: "Arsenal will never get rid of their small club mentality."

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has insisted he doesn't want to just rely on set-pieces as a threat to opposition teams and said he was keen for the team to evolved in all aspects.

Speaking earlier this month, he said: "We want to be the kings of everything. Set-pieces, the best in the world. High press, the best in the world. In open spaces, the best in the world. The best atmosphere in the stadium and the best at everything.

"We want to be the best at everything. We want to have the best academy, be the best at player development, recruit the best players, best coaches. That’s the aim."
