Sevilla lose midfielder for rest of 2024 as thigh injury diagnosis is confirmed

It’s not been an easy few weeks for Sevilla, who have won only one of their last five La Liga matches. They will hope to end 2024 on a high with their final two matches against Celta Vigo and Real Madrid, although as it turns out, they will be weakened for those upcoming fixtures at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan and Santiago Bernabeu.

During the first team’s training session on Thursday, Djibril Sow suffered a “myofascial injury to the adductor longus of his left thigh”. According to Marca, this will ensure that he plays no part against either Celta or Real Madrid, meaning that his 2024 (in a footballing sense) is over.

Sow has been an undisputed starter for Sevilla since he returned from injury in October. However, his absence means that head coach Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta will need to look for another option to the Swiss midfielder for the matches against Celta and Real Madrid.
