THE Cherries have booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup as Josh Salmon netted the winner in a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town.

AFC Bournemouth led the young Tractor Boys in the 21st minute at Eastleigh’s Silverlake Stadium thanks to Charlie Stevens, who, after a one-two with Harold William, fired low into the bottom corner.

But their Professional Development League counterparts levelled through Luke Towler, who finished from a rebound after Jamie Mauge hit the post.

The [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/) regained the lead through prolific striker Jonny Day in stoppage time at the end of the first half, as he found the net from Stevens’ perfect cross.

The lead was extended to 3-1 early in the second period, as Welsh youth international Salmon finished from around 18 yards after a good run.

Two minutes later, Ipswich got one back to narrow the deficit to one, through substitute Will Unadike, who headed home from Darragh McCann’s ball in.

But Bournemouth defended well, including a goal line clearance from Tommy Whitehead, to see out the game and seal their place in the next round.

The fourth round will be played by Saturday, January 18.
