Two new dates emerge for Everton vs Liverpool in January pending one condition - report

Everton have experienced a strange past week with their emphatic 4-0 victory over Wolves followed by a turbulent weekend.

The Merseyside Derby was postponed due to Storm Darragh which hit the west coast over the weekend with health and safety of real concern.

Although every other game in the Premier League was played, Everton were able to retain their five-point cushion on the bottom three.

However, Sean Dyche says Everton were desperate to play Liverpool, but he also admitted he was aware of just how bad the conditions were.

With dates having been speculated over recent days, it seems there is now a specific date in mind in February which is now just awaiting Premier League approval.

Though, it could be even sooner if one thing happens.

Everton vs Liverpool new date awaiting UEFA approval but there could be a twist

It has already been heavily suggested the Merseyside Derby could be rescheduled for February with two weeks opening up for both sides.

And, according to The Mirror, Everton vs Liverpool has now been pencilled in to be played on 11 February, 2025.

However, it is not a done deal, with the Premier League now awaiting UEFA confirmation to play a game on the same night as a Champions League fixture.

That is not expected to be an issue with Liverpool already on the brink of sealing their spot in the Round of 16, having made a 100% start in the competition.

It’s stated that the Premier League will confirm the new date after next week’s Carabao Cup quarter-finals and once Liverpool are mathematically certain of their Champions League last 16 place.

Liverpool face Lille and PSV Eindhoven in their last two Champions League group games at the end of January, needing only a draw to book their spot in the knockout stage.

A shock defeat to Southampton next week could see the Merseyside derby scheduled for one of the two Carabao semi-final weeks in January. The Premier League declined to comment.

Footage from Goodison Park showed the effects of Storm Darragh with the window causing major issues on Saturday morning.

What games will the Merseyside Derby fall between for Everton if it’s played when pencilled in for?

A lot could change around Goodison before then with The Friedkins expected to sack Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell once they land on Merseyside.

If the Merseyside Derby is going to be played on Tuesday, 11 February, it will likely fall between two games for the Toffees.

It is not certain that Everton will have a game on the weekend prior to the proposed new date with no Premier League action, due to the FA Cup fourth round.

Saturday 8 February – FA Cup fourth round

Tuesday 11 February – Rescheduled Merseyside Derby

Saturday 15 February – Crystal Palace (Away)

Everton will have to get past Peterborough in the third round of the FA Cup, with Dyche potentially having to rotate his side with the derby in mind.
