'He's just unbelievable': Alan Shearer names the Arsenal player he thinks is having an incredible season

Arsenal returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Monaco in the Champions League.

The Gunners have been on a good run since returning from November’s international break. They are unbeaten in that period, winning five and drawing one of their six games.

Mikel Arteta’s side came under a lot of criticism for their result against Fulham, but Arsenal put things right with a good victory over Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Bukayo Saka won the Player of the Match award for his performance against the French giants.

Alan Shearer raves about Arsenal star Bukayo Saka

Saka is having a stunning season for Arsenal.

The Gunners have had a number of injury issues this season. They haven’t been able to field the same side for a consistent run of games.

That has not been ideal at all and has impacted some of their performances. But, one player has continued to perform at the highest level despite all the difficulties – Saka.

The 23-year-old scored a brace and picked up an assist in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Monaco in the Champions League. He wasn’t at his best but still got his side the win.

Saka is an absolute superstar, and Shearer was blown away by the England international’s performance at the Emirates on Wednesday night.

He said on the Rest is Football podcast: “Saka again, man, what a season he’s having. He’s unbelievable, isn’t he?”

Gary Lineker then said a few moments later: “You mentioned Saka there, I just saw his stat. I don’t know who decides these things, but he’s the highest-rated player in the Champions League this season.”

Shearer responded: “Well, he’s an awesome player, whatever the stat is. I mean, you don’t have to look at the stat to see that. What a player, man. He’s just unbelievable.”

Bukayo Saka’s stats in 2024/25 are out of this world

Saka has been one of the most consistent attackers in Europe.

Arsenal haven’t really been at their best this season, and their number seven has been paired up with three different players at right-back because of injury issues.

Saka didn’t have Martin Odegaard to support him on the right side as well for a couple of months, and that wasn’t ideal. But, the Arsenal man’s numbers remain incredible.

Champions League 5 4 2

Bukayo Saka’s stats for Arsenal in 2024/25 (correct as of December 13, 2024)

Saka is on track to break Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne’s record of providing the most assists in a single Premier League season.

The Gunners number seven needs 11 assists in 23 games to set a new record – we think he will do it!

Arsenal take on Everton next, and Saka is expected to start. He hasn’t scored or assisted in each of his last two Premier League games. We’re sure he will want to change that on Saturday.
