Hansi Flick’s priority, from day one, has been to ensure all members of the squad feel equally involved in the project.
After all, he sees the players on the bench to be as important as the regular starters in the long season ahead and thus appreciates the elite mentality of those less involved.
Ferran Torres is one player the manager has been very satisfied with. After all, the Valencia-born star is far from being a starter but has always given his all on the field and his brace against Borussia Dortmund demonstrated the same.
Flick acknowledges the player’s mentality
The German tactician was all praise for Torres in the post-match press conference and publicly recognised his mentality to give his all on the field, apt for the nickname ‘the shark.’

As revealed by SPORT, however, Flick also personally congratulated the player after the game for his brace at Signal Iduna Park and his contributions in helping get the team across the line.
He considers the Spanish winger to be the perfect example for other players who are not regular starters and hopes they can learn from Torres and give their everything in the few minutes they receive.
Heading into the new year, Barcelona’s schedule will only get more complicated and the backup players will see more prominence. Keeping them motivated, thus, is essential.
So far this season, Torres has made 14 appearances for the Blaugrana and has now scored in his last three appearances. After all, his brace against Dortmund only added to his goals against Real Betis and Mallorca earlier in the month.
High on confidence, the 24-year-old will only see more minutes now as the need to rotate Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski will increase.
