Eddie Howe and Simon Jordan recently discussed a number of topics.
Indeed, the Newcastle United manager sat down with the former Crystal Palace owner as part of Jordan’s ‘Up Front’ podcast.
Howe, naturally, was asked about a number of things, both involving Newcastle and beyond.
The Magpies boss responded to Jordan’s assertion that he was merely a gatekeeper at St James’ Park until a bigger name manager came along, while also talking of his desire to win trophies on Tyneside.
Jordan also pressed him on Newcastle’s pursuit of Marc Guehi over the course of the summer transfer window, such was the brevity of the interview.
While Jordan has been full of praise for Howe at times, he’s also suggested he may not be a long-term manager for the club.
In fact, he recently posited a theory in his Daily Mail column.

Simon Jordan now shares when he thinks Eddie Howe will leave Newcastle
Jordan wrote a column on the problems facing Newcastle in their attempts to challenge for major honours and explained how the current PSR rules make that impossible.

He went on to talk about Howe’s future and suggested he was of the belief the boss would leave Newcastle in 18 months, to coincide with Thomas Tuchel’s contract as England manager expiring.
Howe, of course, was strongly linked with the Three Lions job over the course of the summer but eventually stayed and was not even interviewed for the role.
It must be added that Jordan stresses this is a personal belief and not taken from anything Howe said during the interview.
“My view – and this is personal, not gleaned from anything he said to me – is that he will depart from St James’ Park in around 18 months to coincide with Thomas Tuchel’s leaving the England job. That might be a satisfactory outcome for everyone,” he wrote.
Will Eddie Howe leave Newcastle soon?
Though recent results clearly do need to improve, it seems Howe isn’t under any internal pressure right now – perhaps adding weight to Jordan’s theory.
Responding to supporters on social media after Saturday’s 4-2 defeat at Brentford, Luke Edwards of the Daily Telegraph claimed the manager won’t be going anywhere.
Perhaps what Jordan is saying does have some merit…
