Chelsea are having a good season, flying high in the Premier League and also boasting a perfect record in the Europa Conference League.
On Thursday, the Blues got the job done in Kazakhstan as they ran out 3-1 winners over FC Astana in Almaty.
Chelsea opened the scoring after 14 minutes when Marc Guiu burst into the box before slotting home at the near post.
Four minutes later, Guiu played a huge part in the Blues’ second, forcing an own goal as Astana defender Aleksandr Marochkin got the final touch.
Chelsea’s third came on 38 minutes as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall whipped in a corner that the unmarked Renato Veiga headed in from close range.
Astana got one back on the stroke of half-time, Marin Tomasov curling a left-footed effort in off the far post, but the Blues hung on for all three points.
During the game, Chelsea cult hero Joe Cole suggested that one of the Blues’ young starters was similar in style to Uruguay legend Luis Suarez.

Joe Cole likens Chelsea gem Marc Guiu to Luis Suarez
At half time, Cole told TNT Sports that Guiu “must have watched Luis Suarez” on the training ground when both players were on the books at Barcelona.
Guiu joined La Masia in 2013 and rose through the ranks at the club before linking up with Chelsea this summer.
Meanwhile, Suarez represented Barca between 2014 and 2020, after which he joined Atletico Madrid.
Cole said, via BBC Sport: “Marc Guiu must have watched Luis Suarez as a young man at Barcelona.
“He was a thorn in the side throughout for Astana in that first half. He was direct and the first goal was exquisite from the young man.”
After the second half got under way, Cole said: “Some of the Premier League clubs will be looking at Marc Guiu and hope to have him on loan.”
Another player who impressed was Josh Acheampong as Chelsea fans sung his praises during the game.
Football.london gave Guiu an 8.5 out of 10 rating for his efforts on the day.
‘A fantastic solo goal early on, which would have done his confidence the world of good,’ they wrote.
‘A bit more fortunate with the second one but he had to be there.’
Meanwhile, the Evening Standard gave him an 8 out of 10 and wrote: ‘His best night in a Chelsea shirt.
‘Scored twice in the opening 20 minutes, including a fine solo effort.’
Guiu looks he has a very bright future at Chelsea and, at just 18 years of age, he’s still got plenty of time to become a spectacular player.
