Tyler Dibling during the Premier League match between Aston Villa FC and Southampton FC at Villa Park
Manchester United have been linked with an interest in Southampton's Tyler Dibling ahead of the January transfer window
Southampton manager Russell Martin has warned Manchester United that a fee of £21 million wouldn’t be close to what his club will demand for young star Tyler Dibling in the January transfer window - but has admitted that the Saints are struggling to agree a new contract with the teenager.
United are one of the clubs linked with an interest in the 18-year-old ahead of the window opening. Despite Southampton sitting bottom of the Premier League, Dibling has been one of the standout young players in the league so far this season.
However, amid some talk of a £21 million bid being considered, Martin has issued a clear verdict on the value of his player. He also gave an update on negotiations over his long-term future at the club.

"I was told some rumours about Man Utd, one was a bid of £21m,” he said, via Sky Sports. "I'm not sure you'll get his left foot for that.
"We have offered him a contract, a really good contract for someone his age. At the minute, I don't think his agent agrees, so that's where we're at.
"I think Tyler wants it done, I think Tyler's parents want it done, so we'll see how long that takes. There is an option. We can extend. I don't think we want to do that - we want to reward Tyler for his performances.
"I've spoken to Tyler's mum and dad about it, I've spoken to Tyler, but then I'm not involved in any of the negotiations - that's down to Phil [Parsons, chief executive] and the gang, the owners and Tyler's agent - and that's where it gets tricky."
Dibling has played 14 times in the Premier League so far this season, scoring once in his breakout campaign in the first team. He will look to continue to make an impression when Southampton host Tottenham on Sunday evening (7pm kick-off).
