Everton defender Seamus Coleman may not be back to 100 per cent for months after his recent injury layoff, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that his lack of game time coupled with his fitness issues means it will take him longer to be in ideal shape.

The 36-year-old was on the bench in the 4-0 win over Wolves on 4 December but he has not played first-team football since August.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Coleman: “Given how little he’s played this season and multiple injury setbacks, his first steps back in training will have been basic football activities on the grass with the medical team who will be assessing multiple things.

“His return to 100 per cent will take considerable time, maybe even months, considering his injury history and lack of game time.

Everton have a big decision to make with Seamus Coleman

At 36, Coleman is in the twilight of his career and his fitness issues are preventing him from being available to Sean Dyche.

Unlike Ashley Young, who’s set to turn 40 in months, the Irish full-back is not able to stay injury-free and play week in and week out.

With Coleman’s contract running out at the end of the season, the Toffees have a decision to make whether or not he will be given an extension or they will let him leave for free.

In other Everton news, Italian clubs now want to sign a Toffees defender with an exodus on the cards at Goodison Park.
