'I think': Sean Dyche has just provided an update on Leeds loanee Jack Harrison’s amid struggles at Everton

Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison is enduring a very difficult season at Everton following his return to Goodison Park for a second spell.

Harrison spent last season on loan at the Toffees and after Leeds‘ failure to win promotion in May, he utilised the option in his contract that allowed him to make the move again.

It was an up and down first year for him at the club but clearly he showed enough to tempt Everton into bringing him back, with some reports even suggesting they would look to make it permanent.

However, it is now over 12 months ago since Harrison last provided a Premier League assist, while his most recent goal came all the way back in February.

His poor form and Everton’s potential takeover makes the Toffees doing a permanent deal with Leeds a long way from being a certainty.

Dyche provides Harrison update after Leeds loanee’s struggles

Such has been Harrison’s poor form in recent months, he has not started a Premier League game since a 1-0 defeat to Southampton back in early November.

The longer Harrison is out of the side and unable to turn his form around, the less likely it is that Everton do make the move to sign him permanently.

That would certainly be bad news at Elland Road, as Harrison knows how Leeds fans now feel about him after leaving on loan twice since the club’s relegation.

Speaking in his pre-Arsenal press conference, manager Sean Dyche believes Harrison is currently putting ‘too much pressure’ on himself but insists he is working very hard to return to his best.

He said: “He is still working hard, he’s a very honest professional, and just trying to find those moments for him because I think he works so hard in training. He’s so honest and if anything he’s a player, and I’ve had this with Dwight McNeil, that puts too much pressure on themselves.

“Sometimes you’ve got to release that and maybe there’s a bit of that when he gets out there, to find that enjoyment in what it is and not get so tight, especially in the top third of the pitch.

“There’s no two ways about it because if you look at his past, his stats, his facts, he is capable of goals and assists. Our job is to free him up and find the role that he can find more of them from. He works very hard and is a top professional and a very important part of the group.”

Harrison stats as a Premier League player

Marcelo Bielsa worked wonders with some of the players he had at his disposal at Leeds, but so many of them have struggled since going onto work with other managers.

Harrison’s drop off is certainly among the worst of them, and it is probably only his age that is keeping him as a Premier League player right now.
