Report: Manager with 29% PL win rate could replace Lopetegui at West Ham within 72 hours

Julen Lopetegui appears to be finished at West Ham United.

The Spaniard cannot keep going from week to week without knowing what his future holds.

West Ham will sack Julen Lopetegui imminently, I have no doubts about that.

It has been claimed that Italian legend Max Allegri is the Hammers’ prime target to replace Lopetegui, but there are plenty of other options out there.

Lopetegui has failed to implement a new and exciting brand of football at the London Stadium since taking over in the summer.

The results have been absolutely dire as well.

It’s clearly time for a change in the managerial department, but what direction will the board head in if they do indeed part ways with Lopetegui?

The answer to that question has now been provided.

Ex-PL boss could replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham

The Spaniard is clearly treading on thin ice right now.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

A loss to Bournemouth could well spell the end of his Hammers tenure.

And it seems as though one man in particular is leading the race to replace the beleaguered Spaniard at the London Stadium.

According to a report from The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel, Lopetegui could be sacked if the Hammers lose to Bournemouth on Monday night.

And if the Spaniard is moved on, Graham Potter is the man who could immediately replace him.

Potter has been highly criticised by some West Ham fans, and I totally get it.

His Premier League record is not great after all, with just 41 wins from 141 matches to his name – a 29% win rate (Transfermarkt).

However, if the Hammers are patient, and are prepared to give Potter at least two years to turn things around, I’m convinced that he could take us to the next level.

The 49-year-old deploys an extremely free-flowing brand of easy on the eye football – one that centres around ball retention.

Potter insists on constant movement from his players and has been known to use up to eight different formations and systems during games.

I think he’d actually bring the fun back to the London Stadium.

However, there would undoubtedly be a lot of short-term pain before we reach the promised land.

Have the West Ham fans got the stomach for that if Julen Lopetegui is sacked? I’m not quite sure the majority if us have if I’m being honest.

Personally, I think Graham Potter is perfect for the Hammers job, and it seems as though he’s in prime position to get it.
