Club decide they don't want Wolves loanee, they've sent him back to Gary O'Neil

The transfer window is on the horizon, and Wolves have already seen one of their players return to Molineux prematurely from a loan.

In a summer that was dominated by the departures of several senior stars, most notably Pedro Neto, Max Kilman and Daniel Podence, Wolves also loaned some of their younger players.

For the likes of forward Fabio Silva and left-back Hugo Bueno, the duo are earning rave reviews at their current clubs.

Silva is starring on loan at Las Palmas and is even rubbing shoulders with Kylian Mbappe, while Bueno is playing Champions League football with Feyenoord.

Wolves will be pleased with the above decisions but for one other player, his loan spell turned out to be a nightmare and has now been recalled by the club.

Wolves recall academy gem Nathan Fraser from Zulte Waregem loan

Nathan Fraser is a product of the Wolves academy, and last season the 19-year-old experienced a first-team breakthrough at his boyhood club.

The Englishman was thrown into the senior setup when Gary O’Neil had a plethora of injuries, with the striker playing seven times in the Premier League.

It was in the cup competitions where the youngster made a name for himself, though, as O’Neil dubbed Fraser ‘fantastic’ after he scored against Brentford in the FA Cup.

Fraser also netted and assisted in a 5-0 drubbing of Blackpool in the Carabao Cup, but whilst he showed early promise, it quickly became clear that he wasn’t ready for first-team football at the highest level.

Instead, the forward was sent out on loan to Zulte Waregem in the Belgium second tier, despite EFL clubs previously wanting him.

In a move that was supposed to spike his development, Fraser played 76 minutes for Zulte Waregem by October, and now he’s been recalled from his loan after featuring for a further 17 minutes in two months.

The current Wolves stars who would benefit from a loan

While Fraser’s loan to Belgium was a disaster, Wolves have several other players who would benefit from a temporary spell away in January.

Centre-back Bastien Meupiyou recently returned from an injury, and the club should now look to send the powerful 19-year-old on loan next month.

Meupiyou isn’t the only one, as Brazilian right-back Pedro Lima could get to grips with men’s football after only starting for Wolves in a Carabao Cup win over Burnley.

Another loan move for Fraser also shouldn’t ruled out, after he attracted interest from Shrewsbury last January, with many EFL clubs in need of a striker midway through the season.
