The latest team news and predicted XI as Arsenal prepare to face Premier League rivals Everton on Saturday.
Arsenal will aim to continue an impressive run of form by boosting their Premier League title bid with a home win against Everton on Saturday.
There have been some major injury concerns for Arteta in recent weeks but the Gunners have continued to build momentum as they look to challenge for major honours on a number of fronts. There was a boost for their hopes of progressing in the Champions League when Monaco were seen off at the Emirates Stadium in midweek and a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace lies in wait next week.
The new year will also see Arteta’s men kick off their FA Cup campaign with a home tie against Manchester United and there will be some hope new faces could be added to the squad as the January transfer window opens for business.
But for now, with the hectic festive schedule about to get underway, the sole aim is hunting down Premier League leaders Liverpool and that process will start on Saturday when Arsenal entertain the Reds’ Merseyside rivals Everton. Arteta has some selection headaches of the positive variety ahead of the game and he is also set to welcome back a number of key players in time to face the Toffees.
Goalkeeper and defence
Arteta is hoping for some positive news ahead of the weekend game as Gabriel and Riccado Calafiori both approach a return to contention. Both are expected to return to the matchday squad for the meeting with the Toffees and there could be a further boost for the Gunners boss as Oleksandr Zinchenko has shaken off a muscle injury and could be available. However, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White remain on the sidelines with knee injuries.

Midfield
Arteta has a full quote of midfield options available meaning he has some big calls to make in the middle of the park. Summer signing Mikel Merino came into the starting eleven for the midweek Champions League win against Monaco and looked at ease but there could be a recall for Jorginho. Myles Lewis-Skelly will also hope to have done enough to retain his place in the side after producing an eye-catching display against the Ligue 1 club.

Forwards
Gabriel Jesus started the win against Monaco but was once again unable to find the net as he extended his record this season to just one goal in 19 appearances in all competitions. Gabriel Martinelli could come back into the starting eleven and that would allow Kai Havertz to lead the Gunners attack.
