Chelsea will no doubt be keeping their options open when it comes to making any additions to the first team in the upcoming transfer windows.
This is despite the very promising position the Blues find themselves in both the Premier League and Conference League in Enzo Maresca’s first season in charge of the club.
Chelsea signed intelligently in the most recent transfer window, with them filling voids that they felt they needed from the improving squad of last season.
Maresca has been relatively consistent with what he sees as his best defence, and this includes Marc Cucurella playing on the left of defence.
Before this season reports were rife that Chelsea were open to selling Cucurella, however he has now established himself as one of the most important players.

This has not put an end to speculation that they are interested in other options to play in that position, and this includes Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies.
The Blues have previously been linked to Davies for a number of years now, with his contract situation at the Bundesliga side not seeming to be sorted.
According to The Athletic, the Blues are amongst a host of top sides who are intrigued by the idea of signing the Canadian international.

Chelsea had one of the best left-backs of all time play for them for a number of years in the form of Ashley Cole.

The England international has been full of praise for Davies in the past, saying to The Mirror:
“Davies is playing in a great team that puts him in good positions. He’s so direct, he’s quick, he can go inside or outside.
“Moving to Bayern was a big step, it was a huge risk going from somewhere he was comfortable to play with top stars, but he has just improved –his timing, his understanding, when to go in behind, when to drag people out of position.
“He has improved on his decision-making and, of course, his strength is his speed.”
Having both one of the better inverting and better overlapping left-backs in world football would be a serious set of options for Maresca, as he constantly looks to keep his system fresh.
