Injury boost: Barcelona duo back in group training as returns draw closer

Barcelona fans have reasons to feel optimistic as positive updates emerge from the first team.

According to a recent report from SPORT, manager Hansi Flick is inching closer to welcoming key players back from injury, adding much-needed depth to the squad.

The recent recovery of Ronald Araujo has already provided a boost, with the Uruguayan defender expected to feature in the upcoming match.

However, the good news does not end there. Ansu Fati and Andreas Christensen are also making significant progress in their rehabilitation, offering hope for a near-complete recovery of the squad.

Ansu and Christensen trained

It is said that both players participated in part of the group training session this Friday, a sign that their return is drawing nearer.

Ansu, who suffered a muscle injury in his right leg’s biceps femoris on 13 November during training, has been sidelined for a month.

The winger is expected to be back before the end of the year, although Barcelona’s medical team will prioritise caution to avoid any setbacks.

What about Christensen?

Meanwhile, Christensen has been dealing with tendinopathy in his left Achilles tendon, an issue he has faced since 24 August.

While the Danish centre-back’s recovery is progressing, he is unlikely to return to action until January 2025. Flick and the coaching staff will be eager to reintegrate him into the squad as soon as he is fully fit, given his importance in defence.

Although some players like Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Marc Bernal remain sidelined with long-term injuries, the gradual return of key players like Araujo, Ansu, and Christensen signals brighter days ahead for the team.

With a busy schedule on the horizon, these recoveries will be crucial for Barcelona’s ambitions this season.

As Flick continues to manage his squad carefully, the return of these players could play a decisive role in shaping the team’s performances in the months to come.
