“Didn’t you learn numbers in school?” - Chelsea star mocks teammate Renato Veiga after mix up during goal celebration against Astana

Chelsea's Joao Felix has poked fun at Renato Veiga after the latter made a mixup while celebrating his goal against Astana. The Blues secured a 3-1 win over the Kazakhstanian side at the Ortalyq Stadion on Thursday, December 12, in the UEFA Conference League.

Marc Guiu opened the scoring for the London giants before an unfortunate own goal from Aleksandr Marochkin doubled the lead. Veiga also got on the scoresheet in the 39th minute to seal all three points for Chelsea.

The Portuguese later shared an image of his celebration, where he attempted to show the No. 12 for some reason. However, it was soon clear that he had made a mistake and showed 21 instead.

Felix was quick to point it out, responding to the post with a witty comment:

"Didn't you learn numbers in school?"

Romeo Lavia also pointed out his teammate's error, replying:

"That's 21."

Veiga has been a regular for the Blues in the Conference League this season, but has been restricted to substitute appearances in the Premier League. The 21-year-old has registered two goals and one assist from 16 games across competitions for the London giants this season, 10 of which have been starts.

Veiga joined Chelsea from Basel this summer in a reported £12m deal and his contract with the Blues runs until 2031. Most of his appearances have been at left-back, although he has also featured in central defence as well as in midfield.

When are Chelsea back in action?

Chelsea next face Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday, December 15, at Stamford Bridge. Enzo Maresca's team have picked up pace of late and are second in the league table after 15 games.

They are four points behind leaders Liverpool, albeit having played a game more. The Blues have scored a league-high 35 goals so far and have conceded 18.

They have won nine games in the Premier League and lost just twice. The London giants have been flawless in the Conference League, where they have won all their five games.

Christopher Nkunku is Chelsea's top scorer this season, registering 12 goals and two assists from 22 games. However, the French forward hasn't been a regular under Enzo Maresca, starting just two games in the Premier League.

Elsewhere, Cole Palmer has been indispensable for the Blues once again this season. The 22-year-old has registered 11 goals and six assists from 17 games.
