Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring in the best young talents to North London as Daniel Levy looks to develop them into top players within the corridors of Hotspur Way. While the Lilywhites have been looking to explore the European and South American markets, they have also been keeping a keen eye around the neighbourhood with the North Londoners vying for a move for Chelsea starlet Josh Acheampong.
While Acheampong has only featured thrice for the West Londoners senior side, he has massive potential to make an impact owing to his highly rated attributes, and that has piqued interest from multiple European elites.
Chelsea make Acheampong progress
Transfer News: Ange Postecoglou reveals key Tottenham position he is keen to reinforce in 2025.
Acheampong making slow progress on contract negotiations with Chelsea.
Acheampong has been widely regarded as a ‘top prospect’ at Cobham Academy; however, his contract situation at Stamford Bridge has limited his appearances for the Blues first team, and Tottenham has been looking to take advantage of the contract state of affairs and land the 2006-born teenager.
However, the latest developments would anger Daniel Levy, as transfer expert Graeme Bailey has now told The Chelsea Chronicle that slow progress is being made with the 18-year-old over a new contract with the West Londoners. He said:
He said:
“Chelsea and his people have re-engaged in talks over the last month, and they are progressing, albeit slowly.
“Acheampong wants a clear career path laid out; he loves Chelsea but doesn’t want to stagnate or be held back, but the club is assuring him that there is a plan for him to become a first-team member if he progresses as they think.
“Chelsea don’t hold players; they have shown that constantly—Lewis Hall is a great example. If you are good enough, you will get your chance either at Chelsea or elsewhere.”

For Tottenham, missing out on Acheampong will be a setback as the teenager’s attributes perfectly align with that of Ange Postecoglou’s playing style. However, all is not over yet; despite the Blues’ efforts to retain Acheampong, the North Londoners may still monitor the situation closely and be prepared to act should negotiations falter.
