Everton are officially set to be taken over by The Friedkin Group with approval secured from the Premier League, according to Sky Sports.
The news was broken on the channel on Friday morning [13 December], in what has been described as “huge” for the club as The Friedkin Group [TFG] get the green light to acquire the controlling stake in the club from Farhad Moshiri.
Toffees fans had been waiting through gritted teeth for the process to bubble away in the background, with the breakthrough now slamming in as the Premier League give their crucial nod to get the deal through.
Hayley McQueen announced live on Sky Sports News: “This is huge breaking news, Sky Sports understands TFG have secured approval from the Premier League to become the new owners of Everton.
“The American group has been undergoing the regulatory processes after agreeing a deal to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 percent shareholding in the club in September.

“The takeover is now expected to be finalised next week. It looks like that will all go through.”
Everton to finally be taken over by Friedkins
It is very nearly there – it has almost all been boxed off for Everton and a new era is about to begin.
TFG have been working away in the background with many of the support still refusing to get too excited until things were properly cleared, and finally that major block appears to be in the rear-view mirror.
Having gone through the mill with so many proposed takeover bids, all sorts arriving on the table, Moshiri reluctant to deal with certain parties rather than his preferred successors, it has been a whirlwind.
TFG have shown their ruthlessness in controlling clubs with the Goodison faithful watching intently on how they have acted with Roma, with whom they have fired two managers already this season including club icon Daniele de Rossi.
This crucially, if all goes to plan, comes in time for the January transfer window as Sean Dyche seeks financial support in the market to ensure Everton are a Premier League club for the new chapter at the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium to begin.
Finally, we can say Everton are on the up once again.
