Report: Liverpool transfer news: Reds to pay Premier League premium for 20-year-old attacker

Liverpool are reportedly interested in Leicester City attacker Bilal El Khannous.

The Reds are still frantic in their attempts to improve their squad despite an excellent start to the campaign under Arne Slot, who has guided his men to top spot in the Premier League standings.

Also impressing on the continental stage, Liverpool booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League with a 1-0 win at Girona on Tuesday night.

The Dutch coach was not entirely convinced by his team's display in Spain, but nevertheless a second-half Mohamed Salah penalty got the job done for the visitors.

Looking to extend their four-point gap at the summit of the Premier League, Liverpool will welcome Marco Silva's Fulham to Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool monitoring Premier League attacker?

According to Anfield Watch, Liverpool could be making a significant addition to their midfield ranks during the upcoming transfer windows.

The report claims that the title-chasing Reds are keen on securing the services of Leicester attacker El Khannous, who is enjoying life since a summer switch to the East Midlands club.

It is understood that Liverpool were aware of El Khannous's talents prior to his recent move to the Foxes, although the Premier League giants were put off a potential transfer.

Slot's side supposedly believed that a price tag of £21m was too dear for a player who had only proven himself in the Belgian Pro League at Genk.

However, with El Khannous now performing admirably on the Premier League scene, Liverpool are said to be ready to pay a premium for his signature in the future.

Is El Khannous Liverpool quality?

Despite interest from one of the top clubs in the world, El Khannous has struggled to consistently feature in Leicester's XI this season.

The exciting Moroccan was in and out of the side under the stewardship of former Foxes boss Steve Cooper, who was relieved of his duties in November.

Since the arrival of Ruud van Nistelrooy, El Khannous has started back-to-back Premier League matches against Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United.

With good close control and an eye for a killer pass, the 20-year-old is working well just behind an energetic Jamie Vardy in the Leicester attack.
