Newcastle United have been accused of turning stale this season, as Eddie Howe struggles to find consistency.
There have been moments when Newcastle United have blown us away, particularly against Arsenal and Liverpool. But there have also been severe lows, when this Newcastle United has not looked like an Eddie Howe side. Defeats to West Ham and Fulham stand out.
The Magpies are currently on a difficult run, boasting just two wins from their last 11 Premier League games. It has resulted in a bit of pressure being put on Eddie Howe’s shoulders, as he strives to re-find the recipe for success.
Success is largely all he has known at St James’ Park, and Alan Shearer still believes Howe is the right man for Newcastle.

There has been a severe lack of investment at St James’ Park, largely because of PSR holding the club back. Newcastle have not had the capacity to spend, which has resulted in the Newcastle squad largely remaining the same.
That is why Newcastle are going stale, and it is why it is vital that the Magpies bring in some fresh faces in 2025 – ideally during the January transfer window.
However, that will not be easy because of PSR. Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Newcastle need to sell before they buy in January.
Player trading is absolutely pivotal, with Newcastle interested in Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven. He would be an outstanding signing in January, but a deal will probably not be possible unless someone leaves the club first.
