Sky Sports update on seriousness of Nick Pope knee injury after scans

News

Sky Sports have been covering the Nick Pope injury situation on Friday, on the eve of the Leicester City match at St James’ Park.

At Eddie Howe’s press conference earlier on, he confirmed that United’s keeper had picked up a knee injury against Brentford.

However, Nick Pope carrying on in that match to its conclusion.

The NUFC Head Coach saying this morning that at first they’d thought it was nothing to worry about but as the week has progressed, Nick Pope set for scans this morning to find out how serious, or hopefully not, the issue is.

**Keith Downie of [Sky Sports](https://x.com/SkySports_Keith) earlier this morning on the Nick Pope injury situation after the Eddie Howe press conference – 13 December 2024:**

_‘Nick Pope is seeing a specialist today amidst fears he could be sidelined for a few weeks._

_The 32-year-old hurt his knee while saving a shot against Brentford last weekend, but played on without realising – and the extent was only discovered the next day when his knee appeared swollen._

_Eddie Howe confirmed his goalkeeper will visit a specialist today, and only then will a decision be made._

_Dubravka or Vlachodimos are in line to deputise tomorrow if there’s any damage found.’_

After that Sky Sports post-press conference reporting, Keith Downie now with follow up after the scans.

**The Sky Sports man then following up with this later on Friday 13 December 2024:**

_‘Nick Pope is facing a month on the sidelines after injuring his knee against Brentford last weekend._

_The goalkeeper damaged knee ligaments saving a shot – and not realising at the time._

_Pope will replaced by Dubravka or Vlachodimos against Leicester tomorrow & the hope is he will return next month.’_

So it appears to be Pope, Lascelles, Botman, Wilson and Krafth definitely not involved against Leicester, with Eddie Howe this morning saying that Joe Willock has been doing well since picking up a minor hamstring issue, though ahead of Friday, hadn’t been involved in group training as yet.
