Former Sunderland ace Ross Stewart has racked up a staggering amount per appearance at Southampton.
The Black Cats sold Ross Stewart at the beginning of the 2023/24 Championship season, which left Tony Mowbray’s side without a recognised striker.
The Scotsman had quite an astonishing record on Wearside, when he didn’t find himself out through injury, with him scoring 24 in 46 appearances in the 2021/22 League One campaign, whilst also notching 10 goals in 13 Championship appearances in the 2022/23 season before being hampered by injuries.
Unfortunately for Stewart, it has been a similar story ever since he went down south to Southampton, where injuries have plagued his 67 week spell at the club.
The amount of game time that he has missed is certainly staggering, especially when looking at how much he has made per appearance at the club.

Former Sunderland attacker Ross Stewart rakes in six-figure fee per appearance amid injury woes
Stewart’s time at Southampton has been massively affected by injuries for the Scotsman, and it has led to the former Sunderland star notching just nine senior appearances during his time at the club.
With Stewart being on a £20,000 p/w week, per Capology, it means that across the nine appearances in 67 weeks for the attacker, he has earned £140,000 per appearance with the Saints.
It also means that of the 183 minutes he has notched during his nine first-team showings with Russell Martin’s side, he has earned £6,885 per minute on the pitch, meaning that he has earned £114 for every second on the grass for Southampton up until this point in his career.

Ross Stewart needs to return at lower level to get career back on track
It feels like ever since Stewart signed the dotted line to commit his future on the south coast, he hasn’t been able to escape his injury woes at all, having notched just one start for the club.
Returning to the high intensity of the Premier League will be far from ideal for Stewart when looking to get his career back on track, and it would be more beneficial if he was to move a step down to the Championship, where Sunderland could potentially be the answer.
He thrived when on-the pitch for the Black Cats, and that short spell at the club certainly warrants Sunderland fans likely wanting him back, at least in a loan deal.
