Enzo Maresca explains Nicolas Jackson frustration
Maresca has now shared that Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, 23, was upset after the Spurs victory because he didn’t get on the scoresheet.
“Nico was upset and sad because he didn’t score,” Maresca said via Chelsea’s YouTube channel.
“Nico did the most important thing in the game against Tottenham. That is when we scored to make it 2-2 with Cole [Palmer], everyone was celebrating the goal. There was only one player go for the ball and bring the ball quickly to the middle to start again. That was Nico. This shows the desire of Nico to win the game.”
In 14 league games this season, Jackson’s scored eight goals. It’s great to hear he’s holding himself to such high standards, and there was genuine disappointment after not scoring versus Spurs.

The £100,000-a-week centre-forward (Spotrac) was substituted off with 15 minutes to go in last Sunday’s win.
Jackson was visibly frustrated sitting on Chelsea’s bench after his substitution at Spurs.
Hopefully, the Senegal international can unleash some of that frustration on Brentford in a couple of days time.
Nicolas Jackson on fire this season
Jackson had one of his quieter performances in quite some time during the dramatic Spurs fixture, but there’s no doubt he’s leading the line superbly well for Chelsea.
Harry Redknapp admits he was wrong about Chelsea striker Jackson after previously suggesting he wasn’t good enough for them.
The world’s elite forwards always hold themselves to the highest standards, especially when it comes to goalscoring. It’s good news if Jackson is learning this ruthless and greedy mentality.
With Christopher Nkunku patiently waiting in the wings, Jackson is under pressure to keep delivering for the Blues on the pitch.
