Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has provided an injury update ahead of the Premier League derby against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The Red Devils returned to winning ways on Thursday evening against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.
They were trailing 1-0 shortly after the break, but ended up winning 2-1 after a brace from Rasmus Hojlund. The Dane scored a late winner before stoppage time.
United now return to league action with a Manchester derby this weekend. Ahead of the game, Amorim said that Jonny Evans is ‘training already’ and should be fit.
He told reporters: “But I think everyone is going to be fit and ready to win the game. [Jonny Evans?] Yeah, he’s training already.”
United have had a mixed start under their new manager. They started with two wins and one draw before back-to-back losses against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
It could have been three on the bounce, but the Red Devils responded brilliantly against Plzen. Hojlund stepped up from the bench to score both goals on the road.
Amorim now has a good idea over his strongest starting XI and his team have a brilliant chance to beat City, who have been in dreadful form over the past month.
Pep Guardiola’s side have picked up just one win in the last 10 outings with seven losses.
They have been vulnerable in the backline and have lacked control in midfield without Rodri. United need to make a big statement at the Etihad with an early goal.
