Liverpool manager Arne Slot has offered his two cents on Chelsea's chances in the Premier League title race this season. The Dutchman praised the Blues for the form they've displayed so far.
The Merseysiders sit at the summit of the league table in superb form under Slot this season. The Reds haven't shown any signs of decline so far since the departure of Jurgen Klopp and are in pole position to win the league this term.
Liverpool have a four-point lead at the top of the league with a game in hand as well. Meanwhile, Chelsea have been a revelation under Enzo Maresca themselves and seem to have rediscovered some of their best form.
The Blues are second in the league table behind Liverpool, having lost just two games so far. Despite their position, Enzo Maresca has insisted on multiple occasions that they are not in contention for the title this term.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool's league clash against Fulham on Saturday (December 14), Slot was asked about the Blues' chances in the title race. He said (via journalist Nizaar Kinsella on X):
"It was one of the games [when Liverpool beat them 2-1 in October], maybe the only game, where I felt the other team was better than us during that game. That’s not to say for the long term they are better than us but during the game they had more ball possession than us and were threatening us more than any other team until now.
"I’m not there to judge which position they will end in the league table. I have to focus on my own team but Chelsea have been impressive this season so far, that’s for sure."
The Blues will face Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, December 15.
Jamie Carragher explains why Arsenal have 'a greater chance' than Chelsea in title race against Liverpool
Jamie Carragher claims that Arsenal are in a better position to win the league than Chelsea this season. The pundit feels that the Blues need to replace goalkeeper Robert Sanchez to improve their chances.
Sanchez has been rather unstable between the sticks for the Blues, attracting criticism for some of his performances. His latest display against Tottenham Hotspur left fans unimpressed as well.
With Liverpool leading the race, Carragher has given his thoughts on who among the Blues and the Gunners will pose more competition for his former club. He said on Sky Sports:
"When I think of teams who win the league, I always think of a great goalkeeper. Chelsea haven't got a great goalkeeper. And when you think of what Arsenal did a couple years ago, they were never going to win the league with Aaron Ramsdale.
"They brought Raya in and he's a better keeper, and it gives them a greater chance. So I just think Chelsea would miss out, but they're definitely in the race."
