Arteta reveals what he expects from Arsenal in the January transfer window

Arsenal find themselves six points away from Liverpool at the summit of the Premier League table, nine if the Reds win their game in hand. The Gunners take on Everton this weekend, looking to close that gap.

Many have blamed MikelArteta’s lack of quality depth options for the early setbacks and hope the January transfer window is an opportunity for the club to bolster their ranks for the second half of the season.

Arsenal could use additions at centre-forward, in midfield, and possibly in the rearguard. However, the winter window tends to be slow with clubs unwilling to let go of their players.

In his press conference before the Everton meeting, Arteta revealed his expectations for the upcoming January transfer window.

Arteta said (viaAFC’s website): “I never expect January to be super busy, but we have to wait and see where we are.

“Some surprises can come. Weare prepared for that, some opportunities as well, and we have to see. Hopefully, the squad availability is going to be better in a few weeks, so we will have to wait and see.”

Arsenal must consider move for a striker – View

The Gunners have been playing with Kai Havertz up top, but he has not moved the needle playing as a centre-forward. Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus continues to frustrate. Arsenal must pounce on any opportunity to sign a striker this winter window.

The Gunners havebeen linked with several names, like Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, and Victor Osimhen. This January window is an opportunity to take the market by surprise and sign a world-class striker.

Sporting CP star Gyokeres could be available with the club dropping points left, right, and centre since the departure of Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese giants have reportedly reduced their demands from €100 million to €85m, and Arsenal need to seize this opportunity.

Even though he did not score when he faced the Gunners in the Champions League, he was a handful for the defence and struck the post. He would be a game-changer for Arsenal.
