The Friedkin Group have moved one step closer to their takeover of Everton and their first move must be to terminate the loan of Jack Harrison.

With Sky Sports reporting on 13 December that TFG have secured approval from the Premier League for their takeover, it is only a matter of time until Everton finally have their new ownership in place, although Ben Jacobs said the Premier League’s Independent Oversight Panel still needs to give its own approval.

The takeover is likely to see various changes implemented with Sean Dyche expected to be axed but the future of Harrison needs to come under immediate attention.

Everton simply have to terminate his loan contract ahead of what has the potential to be a massive January rebuild.

Jack Harrison should be binned at Everton

The Leeds United loanee has failed to perform in any of his 14 appearances for the Toffees since returning for a second loan spell in the summer.

Harrison is yet to register a single goal contribution for the club and his lack of ability in the final third has played a big role in the club’s attacking woes that have played a huge part in winning just three games all season.

Of course, he isn’t the only concern at Goodison Park but he is certainly one of them and if TFG are to have a positive influence from the off, they will be required to make some difficult decisions over the current playing squad.

Some big calls are going to have to be made over the next few weeks if Everton are to be steered away from yet another relegation dogfight ahead of what has potential to be a crucial turning point in the future of the club.
