Miquel and her team are hit hard with injuries. She hopes to have all her players return in January but that would be an “ideal world”. The players will be given plenty of time off to recover physically and mentally as it has been tough for the club.

What the coach has to say:

Amandine Miquel on Leicester ‘spicing’ it up against Chelsea: “Yeah, it’s true. Over the years in France when we played Lyon we tried to spice it up a bit & throw some surprises to make it not nice for them. With Chelsea, why not? We will see. We have a few strange ideas.”

Sonia Bompastor will travel without a few of her younger players to the East Midlands. Sandy Baltimore was absent for the last two fixtures and will not be available against Leicester City. Baltimore might return against Real Madrid.

“Maelys (Mpome) and Julia (Bartel) won’t be involved in the game tomorrow. Julia could be able to practice this morning but not normally. Maelys won’t be involved in the Real Madrid game either, she will be coming back in January,” Bompastor said.

The head coach explained that both Mpome and Bartel have quad injuries. Mpome was injured when she was with the national team and Bartel in a training session.

On the long-term absentees James, Kerr and Fishel: “LJ is progressing really well. We are talking with the staff about her return. It’s always a little bit difficult because you want them back, but you want to protect them not take too many risks. So, I think we will see LJ after the winter break for sure.”

“For Mia and Sam, they are long-term injuries, and the recovery is really individual, each will go with their own rhythm. We hope to have them as soon as possible because all three are creative players who really impact the game when they come in. So as a manager, I hope to have them as soon as they can,” Bompastor concluded.

What the coach has to say:
