Club have now spoken to Arsenal man’s entourage about January–Gunners still need convincing

Napoli have now spoken to Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior’s entourage about a move in the January transfer window but have work to do to convince the Gunners.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who report that Napoli have held a ‘discussion’ with Kiwior’s entourage about a move.

They report that the Italian side value Kiwior as he can play on the left or as a centre-back, already knows Serie A and is valued at €25m. That figure is presumably seen as acceptable.

Arsenal have no intention to sell the player in January at this moment in time as he’s a useful option to cover for defensive injuries, but Kiwior thinks differently.

He would like more playing time after two and a half season as a reserve at Arsenal. Mikel Arteta thinks highly of him, but he’s never truly been a regular and he’d like to move on. At least, there is a ‘feeling’ that he would like to do so.

Napoli would be a ‘welcome destination’ for him, but a lot would depend on the formula to get him there. They need to put something on the table to convince Arsenal.

A loan with a right to buy would not do so but a purchase obligation might be the way. Napoli are yet to offer that, though, even if Kiwior is high on their list of options to reinforce Antonio Conte’s squad.
