Liverpool are ramping up their interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong, if recent reports are anything to go by.
Three of the Reds' top stars will be out of contract in the summer, including academy product Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, a recent report from The Athletic's David Ornstein suggests the trio of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Alexander-Arnold have now been presented with opening contract offers.
While both Salah and Van Dijk have emphasised their desire to remain at Anfield beyond this season, Alexander-Arnold is the subject of a transfer pursuit from La Liga giants Real Madrid. If a new deal is not agreed, the 26-year-old will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England in the new year.

As a result of the right back's uncertain future, links with potential replacements have ramped up in recent weeks, including with Leverkusen's Frimpong. According to journalist Christian Falk, speaking with CaughtOffside, Liverpool's interest in the 24-year-old is strong.
The article claims Frimpong's agent, Dirk Hebel, was invited to Anfield for Liverpool's Champions League match against Leverkusen last month. It has been suggested he sat in the director's box and there is dialogue between the club and the player's entourage.
Frimpong has previously played in England as part of Manchester City's academy set-up, but he didn't make a single first team appearance prior to his move to Celtic in 2019. During his one-and-a-half years in Scotland, he scored three goals and registered eight assists in his 51 appearances across all competitions.
In January 2021, the Dutch international was then signed by Bundesliga side Leverkusen. He was part of their invincible title winning season under Xabi Alonso last term, which has prompted links with some of Europe's top clubs, including Liverpool.
